Turn a video into a GIF for Discord
Trim your clip, convert it, and see the exact file size before you download — so you know it will send. Free, no watermark, no sign-up, and nothing leaves your device.
Drag & drop a video here, or choose one below
MP4, MOV, WebM and more · up to 300 MB · stays on your device
Large files load slowly since everything runs on your device — trim to just the part you need for the fastest result.
How it works
- Drag your video in, or choose it from your device.
- Trim it to the few seconds worth sending.
- Convert, check the size, then download and drop it into Discord.
Settings that keep a Discord GIF small
Discord caps how large a file you can send, and the cap is tightest on a free account. Start with Balanced— 480px wide at 15 fps looks good in a chat window and stays light. If it's still too big, trim a second or two more before you touch anything else: length costs more than width or frame rate. After that, Smaller drops you to 240px and 10 fps. The finished size appears next to the download button every time, so you never have to guess.
Reddit, WhatsApp, X and the rest
The same settings work anywhere a GIF goes. Every one of these places has its own size ceiling, so the habit is the same: trim short, convert, read the size, and drop a preset if it's over.

Questions
- How do I make a GIF for Discord?
- Add your video, trim it to the few seconds you want, choose the Balanced preset, and press Convert. The finished size is shown next to the download button, so you can check it before you send it.
- My GIF is too big to send on Discord. What should I change?
- Trim harder first — length affects size more than anything else. Then switch to the Smaller preset, which drops the width to 240px and the frame rate to 10 fps. Convert again and check the new size.
- Can I make an animated Discord banner with this?
- Only if your clip is already the wide shape a banner needs. This converter resizes but doesn't crop, so a normal video will come out too tall. Crop it to the banner shape first, then convert. Check Discord's own help pages for the current banner size and whether your account can use an animated one.
- Will the GIF have a watermark?
- No. There's no watermark, no logo, and no sign-up — the GIF you download is clean.
- Can I keep the sound?
- No — a GIF has no audio track, so sound can't come along. Post the clip as a video if the sound matters.
- Does it work on my phone?
- Yes. It runs in your phone's browser the same way it runs on a computer, so you can make a GIF on Android or iPhone and send it straight to Discord.
