About

GIF Maker is a free tool for turning videos into GIFs. Trim a clip, set the frame rate and size, and download — no sign-up, no watermark, and nothing to install.

Why it exists

Most video-to-GIF converters upload your clip to a server, which is why they cap file sizes, queue you behind other people, and stamp a watermark on the result. That is a lot of friction for something a browser can do on its own. This one does the whole job on your machine, so there is no upload wait, no queue, and no limit imposed by somebody else's bandwidth bill.

The part most tools get wrong

A GIF stores every frame as a separate picture, so length costs far more than width or frame rate — trimming two seconds does more than halving the resolution. That is also why the finished size is shown next to the download button before you commit to it: most places you would send a GIF enforce a size limit, and finding out after you have uploaded is the annoying way to learn.

Your files stay yours

Everything runs on your own device. The videos you choose are never uploaded to a server, so your files stay private and the result is ready in seconds. Once the page has loaded it keeps working without a connection, and you can use it for clips you would not hand to a stranger's website.

How it is paid for

GIF Maker is free and funded by advertising, so there is no subscription and no per-file limit. Ads are kept away from the controls you actually use. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
